Groundswell NZ have been outspoken about the unworkable regulations imposed on food producers by the Labour Government in a manner that has been too much, too hard, too fast. We have always said we are not against regulations or change, but the regulations must be practical and achieve the actual outcomes intended.
Farmers and food producers have had an overload of crippling regulations, red tape, and layers of bureaucracy piled onto their businesses, resulting in the most unsustainable mental health and financial situation the agriculture sector has been in for years.
This is not just bad for farming businesses and families, it is bad for our rural and provincial towns and New Zealand as a whole, as agriculture is the largest sector of our tradeable economy.
The Drive4Change set off on Friday 22nd September from Invercargill. Groundswell co-founders Bryce and Laurie embarked on their nationwide tour on tractors and were joined by supporters along the way. The tour finished up in Auckland with an event at the Ellerslie Racecourse at 1pm on Sunday 1st October.
Drive4Change was to raise awareness of Groundswell’s message during the 2023 general election that things are bad, you need to vote, and you need to vote for change.
