In a letter yesterday to dairy farmers DairyNZ’s Tim Mackle has dismissed all alternative emissions proposals the day before Groundswell NZ was due to present our emissions plan to them and the rest of the He Waka Eke Noa Steering Committee. We are deeply disappointed with this pre-emptive action by DairyNZ, which has now cast doubt on the integrity of the entire HWEN consultation process.

Groundswell remains committed to ensuring  farmer’s voices are heard and we will be demanding answers from HWEN chair Kelly Forster as to why this was allowed to occur during a ‘genuine consultation’ period.

‍This is unacceptable conduct by DairyNZ, farmers deserve much better from our representatives.
