Some supporters have forwarded on their communications with Stats NZ, who have been hounding them to complete their forms.
You can rest assured, thousands of Groundswell NZ supporters are standing united in the boycott, opposed to Stats NZ’s outdated emissions metric that overstates agriculture’s effect on warming by as much as 400%.
If Stats NZ is so concerned that they are chasing people up, we can only presume that they are worried by the number of food producers joining the boycott.
We’re standing up to Stats NZ for good reason, taking direct action to pressure the Government to use a warming-effect approach towards agricultural emissions, rather than pretending agricultural emissions are just like fuel or energy emissions.
Back in July, our friends at FARM (Facts About Ruminant Methane) provided a list of useful reasons to boycott the Ag Production Census and an easy response for you to edit and send to Statistics NZ when they come calling.

As we mentioned previously, the worst you can catch under the law for participating in the boycott is a $500 fine. Though many people don’t get any enforcement action taken against them at all.
It’s OK to SAY NO to the Ag Production Census and stand together with the many, many food producers who are demanding a fair go for food producers on emissions policy.
